Job Description
Power Industry Support, LLC is actively recruiting a Safety Specialist for the Stockton Biomass Power Plant located in Stockton, CA. The facility is a 45 NMW stoker fired biomass power plant.
We are looking for an experienced Operations Supervisor with a solid background in and exposure to solid fuel boiler operations.
Salary Range: $74K – $96K
The hiring company does not provide sponsorship at this time.
Job Summary:
This position will lead safety and industrial hygiene efforts while supporting the implementation and oversight of safety programs and policies, as well as maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local health and safety regulations. Expertise in training, auditing, and hazard identification and control are required. The position reports to the Plant Manager and will be responsible for the safety effort at both our Stockton and Woodland sites, with functional reporting to the corporate Safety department.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develops, implements, and continuously improves safety programs
- Works collaboratively with leadership and employees to strengthen the company’s safety culture
- Leads strategic safety initiatives
- Conducts site assessments and recommend solutions to address gaps
- Works with leaders to ensure compliance with regulations and alignment with company expectations
- Creates and delivers safety-related reports and presentations
- Develops and presents training and educational programs
- Performs all other related duties as assigned
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational Safety or a closely related field
- One year of practical experience in industrial safety, safety management systems, training, field/site safety auditing, project management, and hazard identification and control
Other Qualifications:
Preferred:
- Two years of practical experience in industrial safety, safety management systems, training, field/site safety auditing, project management, and hazard identification and control
- Knowledge of occupational safety regulations
- Knowledge of electrical standards
- Knowledge of safety management systems
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a matrix organization where business leaders have equal organizational authority

- Successfully complete pre-employment physical including ability to utilize respiratory protection and all other safety requirements, drug screen and background check
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms, and to hold objects
- Must be able to sit, stand or walk for up to 8 hours per day, including walking long distances, up and down stairs and ladders and on uneven ground
- Must be able to frequently lift objects of up to 10 pounds in weight
- Vision requirements for this position include close, distance and peripheral vision, along with depth perception
- Must be able to hear conversations in noisy environments
- The employee works both in a business office setting and at project sites
- Must be able to work outdoors during all seasons including wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme cold and/or heat
