Power Industry Support, LLC is actively recruiting a Biomass Plant Electrician for the Buena Vista Biomass Power Plant located in Ione, CA. The facility is an 18 MW CFB Biomass fueled power plant.
We are looking for an experienced Electrician with a solid background in power generation with strong electrical aptitude and organization skills. Solid fuel (Coal, Biomass, WTE) experience is a plus.
Salary Range: $38 – $44 an hour + Benefits

Position Summary:
The Biomass Plant Electrician is a specialized industrial professional responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of low and high-voltage electrical equipment used to generate and distribute power. The Biomass Plant Electrical Technician works closely with operations, instrumentation, and maintenance teams to support continuous and efficient plant performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Inspection: Perform routine testing and preventive maintenance on large-scale equipment such astransformers, generators, motors, and switchgear.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex electrical malfunctions using diagnostic tools like multimeters,meggers, and thermal scanners to locate shorts, breaks, or circuit failures.
- Installation: Install and configure new electrical systems, including running conduit, pulling high-voltage cable, and setting up control panels.
- Documentation: Read and update schematic diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals to maintain accurate records of as-built systems and repairs.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like Arc Flash gear.
Key Qualifications:
- Education: Associate degree or technical certification in:
- Electrical Engineering Technology
- Industrial Electrical Systems
- Experience: 3-5 years of electrical maintenance experience in:
- Heavy industrial facilities
- Experience working with generators, turbines, motors, and industrial electrical systems preferred.
- Preferred Certifications:
- Journeyman Electrician License
- OSHA Safety Certification
- NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training
- Industrial Electrical Certification
- Specialized Skills:
- Industrial electrical systems and motor controls
- Medium and low voltage electrical distribution
- Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Electrical protection systems
- Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, power distribution diagrams.
