Job Description
Power Industry Support, LLC is actively recruiting an Energy Storage Technician for the Tumbleweed Battery Storage Facility located in Rosamond, CA. The facility is a 69 NMW lithium-ion battery Energy Storage facility.

Salary Range: $40 – $45 an hour (DOE) plus benefits.

Job Summary:
The primary purpose of the role is to act as a support for the Site Manager of the lithium-ion battery Energy Storage project. Conduct day to day operations and maintenance of the plant to include supporting operations, mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, and supervising or directing contractors. Monitors plant performance and is capable, without supervision, of identifying mechanical, electrical and instrumentation/controls issues and performing corrective action when appropriate. Is fully proficient in reporting/scheduling generation with the scheduling coordinator and CAISO. In addition, assists in conducting acceptance and performance test on existing or new plant equipment. Manage and maintain work order CMMS, involved in budget planning, outage planning, plant safety program, plant environmental program, plant NERC program and plant improvement program.
Job Functions:
- Start-up, operate, shutdown and secure equipment or systems under normal and emergency conditions.
- Troubleshoot and perform basic level mechanical skills.
- Inspect assigned machinery thoroughly for malfunctions and / or potential failures.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance task on plant equipment, Inverters, Batteries, AC and DC electrical systems, Chillers, HVAC, Fire Protection Systems and others as assigned.
- Consulting diagrams and technical documentation such as schematics, manuals, standards and codes.
- Maintaining backup and revisions documentation for plant systems
- Maintain the plant arc flash program
- Maintaining various computer-based control systems
- Perform scheduled maintenance on plant equipment
- Keeping up to date with advances in technology in the industry
- Maintain logs and records as required to record complete operating conditions for assigned equipment and systems and report any irregularities
- Assists in the development of operating and maintenance procedures to ensure consistent and safe operation
- Maintain site/equipment cleanliness.
- Conduct or assist in scheduled and forced outage maintenance work
- Supervise, coordinate or assist contractors performing work at the facility
- Comply with all site Environmental, Health, Safety, and NERC policies and programs
- Maintain logs and/or records of problems, repairs, and downtime as required
- Assist in the implementation and upkeep on the overall preventative maintenance and spare parts inventory tracking system.
- Assist in the training and development of the Remote Operating Centers Operators.
- Support and/or assist with O&M Service Business performance across key business metrics (Safety, Finance, Maintenance etc.)
- Support the service relationship with the customer through maintaining clear lines of communication, knowledge and execution of the contract.
- Drive proactive and reactive maintenance execution in managed projects while incorporating a continuous improvement approach
- Manage multiple 3rd party service vendors in the safe execution of O&M services across contracted projects
- Identify new issues affecting product performance, develop plans for resolution, socialize, execute resolution and follow up to ensure sustainability
- Support internal and external Root Cause Analysis and Management of Change Activities
- Safely operate heavy equipment when needed (Forklifts, Manlifts, Cranes)
- Effectively utilize three-way radio communications.
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent level of work experience
- Successful completion of applicable Pre-Employment test battery
- Successful completion of applicable Pre-Employment drug testing and formal background checks.
- 5+ years related experience in electric utility or independent power producer experience within generation / operations / technical teams (Energy Storage, Coal, Gas, Solar, Hydro, Wind).
- Must have experience leading safety efforts in an operational setting.
- Proven track record of technical problem solving using a structured approach and complex analytics. Ability to adapt to dynamic conditions and stay focused/execute on goals.
- Must possess solid level of computer literacy.
- Possess a valid state-issued driver’s license.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interface with multiple levels of customer organization.
- Planning, organizing and coordination experience among multiple stakeholders to achieve common goals directly impacting business performance.
- Project Management, meeting leadership and facilitation experience.
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception are all required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Basic data entry/computer skills.
- Ability to create & maintain a safe working environment for all employees.

- Excellent MS Office; SCADA Experience; MODBUS Experience
- Procedural Writing ability desired.
- Must be able to respond to audible alarms and variations of sound.
- CMMS experience (example: Maximo, Infor, MP2, Mainsaver, Maintenance Connection, NS5)
- Must be able to perform physical requirements of the position including climbing ladders, stairs, and must be able to perform comprehensive site inspections.
Work Environment:
- Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties. Work with hazardous materials may be required.
- Includes working indoors and outdoors
- Must be able to respond to all shifts at any hour
- Travel as needed to support owners and operators
Physical Abilities:
- Must be able to work on feet for extensive periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing, and routinely lifting 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work in elevated areas, confined spaces and in extreme heat and cold conditions.
