Job Description

Power Industry Support, LLC is actively recruiting a Maintenance Planner Scheduler for the Woodland & Stockton Biomass Power Plants located in Woodland & Stockton, CA. Woodland is a 25 NMW circulating fluidized bed biomass power plant and Stockton is a 45 NMW stoker fired biomass power plant.

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Planner with a solid background in planning, scheduling, CMMS systems (Maximo, Mainsaver) and good computer skills.

Salary Range:  $110K -$135K + Bonus potential & benefits

Job Summary

Location: Supports two sites, one in Stockton, CA and one in Woodland, CA

This position is responsible for performing on-site maintenance planning and coordinating activities including basic planning, scheduling, directing, coordinating, and reporting. This position supports both the Woodland and Stockton California sites and will report to the Regional Operations Manager. Additionally, a dual dotted line reporting structure to the Maintenance Managers at both locations. Results are reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to the policies, procedures, and practices.
As a critical contributor to operational efficiency and reliability, this position directly impacts production outcomes and aligns maintenance strategies with organizational goals. The Planner/Scheduler collaborates closely with maintenance, operations, and management teams to develop and refine maintenance plans, optimize scheduling efficiency, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for daily planning and scheduling of maintenance functions including but not limited to inspection schedules and daily schedules.
  • Meet outage planning process milestones including outage scopes, pre-outage forecasts, competitive bidding of materials and services contracts, outage duration, outage milestones, and resource assignments, and commitments approval of project activities.
  • Optimizes shift work schedules for resource utilization and priority with direction from the Maintenance Manager.
  • Maintains outage planning process milestones including commitments, pre-outage forecasts, outage milestones, and resource assignments.
  • Provides guidelines and operational assistance to plant staff.
  • Identifies and implements best practices while maintaining plant operational and financial goals.
  • Updates/maintains PM frequency and content using CMMS data and work order/technician feedback.
  • Perform PM schedule adjustments and generate reports.
  • Create reports on key Maintenance Metrics: % Planned work completed; % PM Compliance; % Breakdown Work; Backlog Hrs; etc.
  • Maintains key documents and records as needed.
  • Collaborates with management, operations, and maintenance teams to develop and optimize maintenance plans.
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance scheduling efficiency and equipment reliability.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements related to maintenance activities.
  • Helps develop contingency plans for critical equipment to minimize downtime risks.
  • Trains and supports maintenance team members on planning and scheduling best practices.
  • Serves as the SME for the CMMS programs, providing training, troubleshooting, and system enhancements.
  • Analyzes CMMS data to identify trends, reliability issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitors system performance and recommends adjustments to align with industry best practices.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and knowledge and capabilities typically acquired through at least 6 years’ experience in a solid fuel fired power plant, or
  • Associate degree or industry-recognized certificate (i.e., the completion of a core group of course designated by the institution) in a related discipline is preferred and knowledge and capabilities typically acquired through at least 4 years’ experience in a solid fuel fired power plant, or
  •  Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a solid fuel fired power plant

Other Qualifications

Other requirements:

  • Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of power plant equipment, scheduling techniques, managing variances, and work planning.
  • Proven planning and scheduling experience particularly in predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance.
  • Strong leadership abilities and the capacity to collaborate effectively within team environments.
  • Experience in outage or turnaround planning in industrial environments is preferred.
  • Knowledge of plant safety, policies and procedures, especially in areas such as chemical handling, high-energy systems, confined spaces, incipient fire suppression, first aid and rotating machinery preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office products (word, excel, projects) and data analysis.
  • Ability to function within a matrix organization in which functional and business leaders have equal authority within the organization and employees report to both a functional leader and a business leader.

Be in a work environment that is usually quiet to moderate in the office but may become loud at the plant site.
