Job Description
Power Industry Support, LLC is actively recruiting a Power Plant Operator for the Hat Creek Bioenergy, LLC renewable energy powerplant located in Burney, CA to drive continuous improvement and optimization of all processes.
The Hat Creek Bioenergy facility is a community-scale 3 MW biomass gasification to energy system utilizing forest sourced feedstock. It will be the first commercial deployment of an innovative gasification system that integrates a horizontally positioned rotary gasifier based off a torrefaction reactor, a thermal oxidizer and an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology in place of an internal combustion engine. The technology is expected to overcome important challenges with the use of forest-sourced wood, including environmental compliance and operating challenges that are hindering large scale bioenergy projects.
The facility is under final stages of construction for planned Commercial Operation December 2024. We are looking for an experienced operator that can come on board and work with the construction team to assist in completing construction, learn and train the intricacies of the control systems, and participate in the startup and commissioning of the plant.

Salary: Starting $28Hr+
Plant Operator(s) Job Duties
Plant operators are responsible for monitoring operations through a computerized system and understanding all technological equipment at the facility. They identify and address malfunctions and perform repairs. Complete daily activity and maintenance logs. Track feedstock fuel received and daily input.
Responsibilities
- Performs periodic maintenance on plant electrical equipment.
- Monitor Operations using a computerized system.
- Communicate with technology partners and monitor remote systems.
- Identify early malfunctions and perform repairs.
- Loading and unloading shipments
- Conduct safety check on machines and ensure compliance with safety protocols and legal regulations.
- Lubricate and clean machinery, as well as maintain a tidy worksite free from waste.
- Adherence to safety plans and standard operating procedures.
- Maintains a safe work environment.
Additional responsibilities:
- Assists with maintaining operating and maintenance procedures for the plant.
- Communicates with vendors and suppliers.
- Participates in company safety training and follows safety procedures.
- Occasionally operates plant equipment (forklift, generators, air compressors)
- Maintaining clean workspaces.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements and skills
- Experience as a plant operator or mechanic
- At least 1 year of experience in an industrial setting
- Must be familiar with the basic tools related to mechanical maintenance.
- Experience operating a forklift, man lift, or loader or willingness to be trained and certified.
- Basic knowledge of sensor systems, electric motors, and control switches.
- Demonstrated writing skills in English.
- MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team to execute projects.
- Strong interest in innovation in renewable energy systems.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to listen to and follow instructions and safe practices.
- Valid driver’s license
