Job Description
Power Industry Support, LLC is actively recruiting a Shift Supervisor for the Albany Green Energy Biomass Power Facility located in Albany, GA. The facility is a 50-megawatt combined heat and power facility.
We are looking for an experienced Power Plant Operator with solid fuel power plant experience (Biomass, Coal or WTE).
Salary Range: $33+ an hour

Job Summary:
Responsible for supervising the operation of the plant in a safe, environmentally sound, and efficient manner. In addition, communicate objectives, manage, train, direct and evaluate assigned personnel on his/her shift in accordance with Company policies and government regulations.
Key Accountabilities:
Position Responsibilities
- Make independent recommendations with respect to the hiring, discipline, transfer and promotion of employees on his/her shift.
- Responsible for the performance and record keeping of required daily plant operations activities, including equipment readings, inspections, and testing.
- Operate distributed control systems.
- Monitor systems to ensure proper operations; perform equipment and safety checks and inspections to ensure an injury-free work environment.
- Take measurements and readings and compare with standards; implement corrective actions where he/she deems necessary.
- Responsible for maintaining the boiler system by adding/transferring chemicals as appropriate.
- Inspect and monitor environmental equipment and make appropriate notifications.
- Identify and correct problems; report problems requiring further action to Maintenance.
- Responsible for maintaining plant operating records and logs.
- Respond to alarms in a timely manner; operate firefighting equipment as necessary.
- Receive fuel as required.
- Regular direction of the work of other crafts on assigned shift, as necessary.
- Perform regular direction of other comparable non-operating duties during plant shutdown.
- Develop and maintain professional competence in the field of power plant operations.
- Adhere to all applicable health & safety, environmental and administrative policies, procedures and regulations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate and exercise discretion to ensure that activities meet department objectives.
- Ensure conformance by employees to Company policies, procedures and standards, and compliance by employees with government regulations.
- Train personnel on his/her shift.
- Identify problems and implement corrective actions as required.
- Prepare appropriate reports, recommendations and maintain documentation as required.

SKILL/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Education – Associate’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in experience.
- Experience – High degree of skill in Power Generation Field with five to seven years of experience preferred.
- Judgment – Requires considerable judgment to work independently toward general results based on policy and precedent.
- Active State of Georgia 3rd class Stationary Steam Engineer License preferred or ability to obtain a 3rd class license.
